Alcyone Limited ("Alcyone", "we", "us", "our") provides capital finding, investor introduction, and related advisory services across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information, and it's written to be consistent with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand) and, where relevant to our Australian activities, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Your name, job title, company, and contact details (email, phone, postal address)
- Information about your capital requirements, investment mandate, or the transaction you're exploring with us
- Financial and commercial information you share with us in connection with a potential raise, introduction, or investment
- Records of our communications and meetings with you
- Basic website usage information (such as pages visited), where our website uses analytics tools
How we collect it
Most of the information we hold comes directly from you — through enquiries, meetings, and the course of an engagement. In some cases, and always with appropriate consent, we may receive information from co-advisors, referral sources, or other parties involved in a transaction. Limited technical information may also be collected automatically through our website.
How we use it
We use personal information to provide our capital finding, investor introduction, and buy-side advisory services; to assess and progress a potential introduction or transaction; to communicate with you about your engagement; to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including under anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) legislation where applicable; and to maintain and improve our services.
When we disclose it
Alcyone does not sell personal information. We may disclose it in the following circumstances:
- To a proposed counterparty — such as an investor or capital seeker — but only with your knowledge and as necessary to progress an introduction you've asked us to make
- To our professional advisers, such as lawyers or accountants, under standard confidentiality obligations
- To regulators or authorities where required by law
- To service providers who support our operations, such as IT providers, under confidentiality obligations
Because Alcyone operates across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific, personal information may be disclosed to, or accessed by, people in those jurisdictions in the course of an engagement.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. Information may be stored electronically, including through cloud-based services, which may involve storage or processing outside New Zealand. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use basic analytics tools to understand how it's used — for example, which pages are visited. This doesn't involve personally identifying advertising cookies. Most browsers allow you to control or disable cookies through their settings.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Complaints
If you believe we've handled your personal information in a way that doesn't meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020, please contact us first so we can address it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can raise a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
